Thanks Angkong

Angkong has reunited with Amah last May 16.  On our way back from Hong Kong, I received this message from our Viber group and read the bad news.  It was a mixed feeling, happy that she will be reunited with Amah and sad because we will miss someone who has been part of our system for my entire life.

Angkong in his office.

I grew up in Tagumpay as we fondly called it.  Sometimes, this has been referred to as Tarlac by our cousins from Manila.  In our seating arrangement, I would sit beside Angkong and Ahya (Big Bro) always sits beside Amah.  That has been our permanent seats till the next generation came.

I would always recall how gentleman he is, from serving the dishes to me and Amah before getting his own.  He would never miss asking us if we have eaten or wants anything to eat. This never failed till his last few days with us.  Whenever I would go to Tarlac now and visit him in his office, he would always ask "Di Cha Be? May pagkain dun kain kayo. Ano gusto nyo?" When he was younger, he would still accompany us to the dining area.  Imagine how he does this to anyone who visits him, such a sweet person.

Now that he's gone, things will never be the same in Tagumpay.  We have always pictured him staying in his office but it's totally different now.  Thanks for everything Angkong! You lived a life full of memories to us. 90 years was all worth the living. We love you Angkong!
